A CGPA calculator that does the typing

Other calculators want every grade and every TGPA typed in. VMS reads your marks and past results from UMS, so you only add each subject's credits, once.

  • TGPA before resultsYour predicted TGPA from the marks already on UMS, the moment they're out.
  • CGPA after this termWhere your CGPA lands once this term counts, and how far it moves.
  • A grade for every subjectWeighted marks give each subject an estimated grade and total out of 100.
  • What you need for the next gradeThe share of the marks still to come that takes a subject one grade up.
  • Checked against the real thingFor a term whose result is out, your estimate sits beside the official TGPA, and your credits are checked against it.
  • Reappears handledMarks from a reappear sitting replace the original ones for that subject.
  • Pin a gradeKnow a grade already? Pin it and the TGPA follows.
  • Every term in one placePick any semester: marks awaited, marks out, or result published.

How LPU calculates TGPA and CGPA

LPU grade points

GradeGrade pointsMarks, as a rough guide
O1090 and above
A+980 and above, under 90
A870 and above, under 80
B+760 and above, under 70
B650 and above, under 60
C540 and above, under 50
D435 and above, under 40
E0Under 35

LPU grades relatively: the marks needed for each grade depend on how the whole class did in that course. The marks column is the absolute scale VMS uses to estimate a grade before results are out.

TGPA

TGPA = Σ (grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits, over the subjects in one term. Example: A+ (9) in a 4-credit subject and B (6) in a 2-credit subject gives (36 + 12) ÷ 6 = 8.00.

CGPA

CGPA = Σ (TGPA × term credits) ÷ all credits, over every finished term. Example: 8.20 over 24 credits and 7.50 over 20 credits gives (196.8 + 150) ÷ 44 = 7.88, not the plain average of 7.85.

The TGPA a target CGPA needs

Needed TGPA = (target × (credits so far + next term's credits) − current CGPA × credits so far) ÷ next term's credits.

Questions

Is there an LPU CGPA calculator that uses my real marks? Yes. Verto Management System (VMS) reads your marks from UMS when you sign in and predicts each subject's grade, your TGPA and your CGPA, before the result is published. You only enter each subject's credits once.

How is TGPA calculated at LPU? TGPA (term grade point average) is the sum of each subject's grade points times its credits, divided by the total credits for the term. A 4-credit subject counts twice as much as a 2-credit one.

How is CGPA calculated at LPU? CGPA (cumulative grade point average) is the credit-weighted average of your TGPAs: the sum of each term's TGPA times its credits, divided by all the credits you have taken. It is not a plain average of your TGPAs.

What are the grade points at LPU? O is 10, A+ is 9, A is 8, B+ is 7, B is 6, C is 5, D is 4, and E or F is 0.

How are marks turned into grades at LPU? LPU grades relatively, so the marks for each grade change from course to course. VMS estimates with O for 90+, A+ for 80+, A for 70+, B+ for 60+, B for 50+, C for 40+ and D for 35+, and lets you pin a grade you already know.

What TGPA do I need for a target CGPA? Needed TGPA = (target CGPA × (credits so far + next term's credits) − current CGPA × credits so far) ÷ next term's credits. The more credits you have already done, the less one term can move your CGPA.

Is VMS safe to sign in to? Your password goes over HTTPS to LPU's own sign-in service and is never stored. VMS only reads your record; it cannot pay, submit or change anything. Signing in does sign you out of the LPU Touch app on your phone.

Is it official? No. VMS is a free, unofficial web client for LPU UMS and is not affiliated with Lovely Professional University. Your TGPA and CGPA on UMS are the ones that count.
